IP Protection (“IPP”) Platform Enhancement – Important Guidelines

I. IP Protection Platform Enhancements

Alibaba Group attaches great importance to IP protection as represented in the diverse IP protection systems developed for various platforms under Alibaba Group. To improve right holders' experience in safeguarding their IP rights on our platforms, Alibaba Group is enhancing its IP protection platform by consolidating its various IP protection systems into one uniform system which will can be accessed through ipp.alibabagroup.com (“the IPP Platform”).

Right holders can now uniformly register and sign-in through ipp.alibabagroup.com/login.htm, the IPP Platform supports the IP protection and enforcement and the process of notice and takedown against our multiple platforms, including www.taobao.com, www.tmall.com, www.tmall.hk, www.alibaba.com, www.aliexpress.com and www.1688.com.

AliProtect® system (legal.alibaba.com) has been integrated into the IPP Platform since October 20th, 2016, and the integration shall complete on December 15th, 2018. Upon completion, AliProtect® system shall shut down on the same day and users will no longer be able to log in to and use the AliProtect® system from then on. We therefore kindly remind you to upgrade your AliProtect® account to the IPP Platform by December 15th, 2018 so that your previous complaint records can be transferred to IPP Platform accordingly for further IP rights protection.

II. Upgrade Process Guidelines

Please follow the corresponding guidelines under the following scenarios to upgrade your AliProtect® account.

Scenario One:

You only have one account in the AliProtect® (legal.alibaba.com/index.htm) system.

Guidelines

1、Please register a new account on the IPP Platform (https://ipp.alibabagroup.com/login.htm) with a new email address instead of the one used in AliProtect® account, and complete the identity authentication and IP rights verification under instructions on IPP Platform (the complainant’ name to be filled in the new account should be as same as the Complainant Name in AliProtect® account) .

2、Click “Submit a Complaint" and select one site from 1688.com, Alibaba.com, or Aliexpress.com, then the account upgrade page will pop up, click “Upgrade Now”, and follow the steps to complete the account upgrade.

Scenario Two:

Both AliProtect® and TaoProtect® accounts exist, and the complainant names in both registered accounts are the same.

Guidelines

If an IP rights holder/complainant has registered both AliProtect® and TaoProtect® accounts under the same name in TaoProtect (ipp.alibabagroup.com) and AliProtect® (legal.alibaba.com/index.htm) systems, it is suggested that the rights holder merge the two accounts.

1、Please log in to the IPP system (https://ipp.alibabagroup.com/login.htm).

2、Click “Submit a Complaint" and select one site from 1688.com, Alibaba.com, or Aliexpress.com, go to the account upgrade page, click “Upgrade Now”, and follow the steps to complete the account upgrade.

Scenario Three

Both AliProtect® and TaoProtect® accounts exist; however, and the complainant names in both registered accounts are different. In this circumstance, you need to upgrade both accounts.

Guidelines

1、Please register a new account (as “A account”) in the IPP Platform with a new email address instead of the one used in AliProtect® account, and complete the identity authentication and IP rights verification under instructions on IPP Platform (the complainant’ name to be filled in the new account should be as same as the Complainant Name in AliProtect® account.

2、Click “Submit a Complaint" and select one site from 1688.com, Alibaba.com, or Aliexpress.com, then the account upgrade page will pop up, click “Upgrade Now”, and follow the steps to complete the account upgrade. Then the the new registered A account and AliProtect® account will be merged.

3、Please then use your previous Taoprotect® account to log in to IPP Platform

4、Click “Submit a Complaint" again and select one site from 1688.com, Alibaba.com, or Aliexpress.com, then the account upgrade page will pop up, and follow the steps to complete the account upgrade. Then both the previous TaoProtect® and the AliProtect® accounts will have all been upgraded.
